Binnen Deerns is op alle organisatieonderdelen ruimte voor jonge academici die zich willen ontwikkelen tot adviseur, specialist of projectleider op het gebied van installatietechniek, energie en bouwfysica.

Je maakt direct deel uit van een of meerdere projectteams en leert onder leiding van ervaren collega’s alle ins en outs van ons vakgebied. Je verdiept je in alle aspecten van het projectmatig werken in onze organisatie. Zo leer je de verschillende fasen in een project doorgronden (van initiatieffase naar ontwerp) en draag je bij aan het ontwerp van bijvoorbeeld de energievoorziening, de verlichting, de luchtbehandeling, de verwarming en koeling, de communicatie- en beveiligingsvoorzieningen.

Je krijgt hierbij de verantwoordelijkheid die je aankan. Zo kan je al snel een interessante rol vervullen binnen diverse projecten en ook extern richting opdrachtgevers actief zijn.

Loopbaanontwikkeling staat bij Deerns hoog in het vaandel. Je kan je verder ontwikkelen in de hele breedte van ons vakgebied of je specialiseren in een van de technieken. De rol die het best past bij jouw kwaliteiten en affiniteit is altijd te vinden! De benodigde ondersteuning van collega’s of in de vorm van gerichte opleidingen en trainingen is voor ons vanzelfsprekend.

Wie zoeken we?
Voor deze startfuncties zijn we op zoek naar jonge mensen met een (bijna) afgeronde technische Master-opleiding. Vele studies vormen een goede basis voor een loopbaan binnen Deerns. Denk daarbij onder andere aan werktuigbouw, elektrotechniek, bouwfysica, lucht- en ruimtevaarttechniek, technische wis- en natuurkunde.

Belangrijk daarbij is dat je affiniteit hebt met ons werkveld. Een samenwerkingsgerichte en klantgerichte instelling en een zelfstandige en initiatiefrijke houding zijn een must. Goed ontwikkelde communicatieve vaardigheden zijn nodig om in- en extern een goede gesprekspartner te zijn.

The position
One of the crucial steps in the technology development is the conceptual design of innovative power plants or hydrogen production installations with integrated CO2 capture. For this task, we are looking for a creative chemical or process engineer who wants to join ECN in shaping the future of clean energy generation.

Focus of the work is the design and analysis of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to capture CO2 during the production of electricity. This involves thermodynamic and economic analysis of innovative electricity and hydrogen generation. The work is an integral part of the R&D projects of the department and the system analysis is input for the technology and material development. As you will be working on the interface between reactor engineering and process design, also the design and analysis of reactor concepts for catalytic reactors is part of the work. Also translation of your ideas into new projects and finding new project partners and customers for ECN is part of the job.

Your profile
You have a university degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or an equivalent education. You are experienced in process modelling using ASPEN software as well as in thermodynamic and economic evaluations of industrial processes or energy systems. You are also familiar with catalytic reactors.
Innovative thinking and creativity combined with a strong feeling for realistic solutions is crucial for this position. You are able to analyse complex problems in a very short time span. Being able to work closely with other people in a multi disciplinary project team is an essential skill. We are looking for someone with good communication skills, and fluency in English.

The unit
In the unit ECN Hydrogen and Clean Fossil Fuels technology is being developed for the production of hydrogen and electricity without emission of CO2. Power plants with integrated CO2 capture and storage are one of the crucial technologies to combat climate change. The challenge is to capture large amounts of CO2 with only limited negative effect on the efficiency of the power plant and on the electricity costs. Thermodynamic and economic evaluations of energy conversion systems (e.g. zero-emission power plants) are carried out as important guideline for our R&D. Furthermore, all kinds of reactors e.g., sorption reactors, membrane reactors, and catalytic reactors, are being designed, constructed and tested. Catalysts, membranes, and CO2 sorbents are being developed.

R&D takes place in large national and international programs, both publicly financed and in direct collaboration with industrial partners. All projects have a strong multi disciplinary nature.

Voor onze opdrachtgever zijn we op korte termijn naar meerdere kandidaten op zoek, die een afgeronde opleiding technische natuurkunde hebben met affiniteit hebben met optica of elektronica.

Functie-informatie:
Voor onze opdracht gever zijn wij op zoek naar meerdere Physical Developers met een HBO of WO Technische natuurkunde achtergrond. Dit kan zowel een starter als iemand met meerdere jaren ervaring zijn, affiniteit met Optica is een pré.
De optische Designer is verantwoordelijk voor het ontwikkelen, ontwerpen en verbeteren van de optische componenten, binnen een van de meest geavanceerde Hightech machines van deze tijd. Je houd je vooral bezig met specificeren, ontwerpen, ontwikkelen en realiseren van een van de componenten van deze machine, zoals de Optische Kolom, Sensoren en Applicaties. Naast deze werkzaamheden voer je ook simulaties uit om het ontwerp te verifiëren en word dit ook getest op een demo of proto machine. Binnen de afdeling werk je binnen een multidisciplinair team.

Functie-eisen:

• Afgeronde studie Technische natuurkunde of Technische Wiskunde (physics, mathematica)
